When you think about your wedding photos, it’s natural to picture the biggest moments first – such as walking down the aisle, the first kiss, the confetti, and beyond. But some of the most meaningful images from your day can end up not including you at all.
I’m a firm believer that weddings are made by the people we invite, because if you provide the environment, it’s your guests that provide the atmosphere. And often, it’s the photos of your guests that become even more valuable over time. On your wedding day, you won’t see everything. That’s a universally understood statement, right? Because you can’t be everywhere, all at once. Photos of your guests help you to see the parts of the day you missed, and bring everything together into something that feels more like a complete story.
When people hear “guest photos”, they sometimes picture awkward group shots or people staring at the camera. But that’s not what guest photos are about for me, and it’s not what this blog post is about. It’s about moments like your friends hugging after not seeing each other for years, kids running wild during the drinks reception, someone wiping away a tear during the speeches, the uncontrollable laughter halfway through the best man’s speech, your grandparents sitting quietly, taking it all in, and of course – guests piling onto the dance floor at the end of the night. None of these are staged. None of them are repeated. And that’s exactly what makes them so important.
