As a standard part of my full day collection, 35mm film sits quietly alongside the hundreds of digital images you’ll receive. It’s a subtle but impactful addition, one that brings a different kind of depth to your gallery, and compliments the overall story in such a real, nostalgic, and meaningful way.

Unlike digital photography, which allows for hundreds of frames in quick succession, 35mm film is slower and more intentional. Every frame is considered, and every press of the shutter matters. So blending both digital and 35mm film formats throughout the day allows me to document your celebration with flexibility and consistency, while picking the right moments to step outside, slow things down, and capture select moments on film.

Is 35mm film included in all of your wedding collections?
It’s included as standard in all full day wedding collections, throughout the UK and Europe. It is not included as standard for micro-weddings, or for photo sessions. But film can be added to any of my collections, all you have to do is ask me about it.
How long does film take to be DEVELOPED?
The film rolls are sent to a professional lab shortly after your wedding. After around 10-14 working days, they’re sent back to me online as medium resolution scans, which are added to your final wedding gallery, alongside your digital images.
HOW MANY PHOTOS CAN WE EXPECT ON FILM, COMPARED TO DIGITAL?
My main focus always remains on documenting your day in digital format, with 35mm film being a complimentary addition. You can expect upwards of 600 images in your final gallery, with 30-60 of those consisting of your film scans.
WHAT TYPE OF FILM STOCKS DO YOU SHOOT ON?
My favourite film to shoot on is the classic Kodak Portra, but I do like to have fun trying different stocks. If you’re keen on a specific type of film, just let me know when we chat and I can make the effort to shoot with it for you.
IS FILM PHOTOGRAPHY A MORE EXPENSIVE OPTION?
Film does involve additional costs that digital doesn’t suffer with – including buying rolls, and getting them developed by professional scanners. However, many couples feel the aesthetic and uniqueness make it a worthwhile investment.
HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHEN TO SHOOT FILM OR DIGITAL?
It primarily comes to timing first, and lighting second. You never want to miss a fleeting moment because you went to grab your film camera, and I hate to waste a film shot on bad light. I tend to lean in to slower moments, like speeches or portraits.
