Back at it again at Voewood for the first of 3 weddings this year. I hold such an affinity to this venue, that I hope to one day tie the knot here myself. It’s quirky decor and haphazardness, always attracts the right kinda couples. No less quirky are Jo & John, who got hitched here last weekend in an incredibly simple, stripped back affair.
Jo decided to opt out of the traditional bridal prep photos, the morning of the wedding. Instead I was dotting around Voewood like a happy headless chicken, capturing guests (and the couple’s dogs Rhubarb and Radar) playing games in the sweltering sunshine. And I’m not complaining either. I’m always up for something a bit different. Different it is; prepare for a severe lack of makeup shots and “getting in to the dress” shots. I’m sure you won’t miss it too much!
Accompanied with some utterly gorgeous florals by Bracken & Twine, Jo headed down the aisle in a vintage looking Cutting Edge Bride gown, with an epic perm to boot. Their outdoor ceremony was stunning under that heatwave sunshine we had. Guests had to take the next opportunity to sit in some shade when possible, which tends to happen on a sunny day at Voewood. There’s plenty of places to cool off.
As the day unfolded, it became clear this wedding was about 3 things. Essentially, this day was about family and friends, and Jo & John’s 7 month old daughter Mathilda. It was about soaking it all in, taking their time, and stripping the wedding down to the basics that they enjoy, and scrapping what they didn’t. Kudos to them! Here’s some of my highlights…
