It’s a rare gift as a wedding photographer that you get to watch good friends have their day. Too often, you’re simply already booked elsewhere. Well, Lauren and her other half Ian were thankfully an exception to that rule. I first met Lauren when I was just eighteen years old. We used to work together in my old job, where I was still working when I handed in my notice to go full time as a photographer. She has quite literally been there from the start of my business to where I am today. We would giggle together in the office even before she was engaged, talking about photographing her future wedding. I text Lauren in the build up to her day saying I was ‘chuffed’ for her! Upon reflection, that word simply didn’t do it justice.
Ian and Lauren make a genuinely wonderful couple, and their Hautbois Hall wedding went beyond expectations. It was nearly actually emotional to see Lauren’s visions that we’d discussed years before, come to life. Speaking of emotion, there was plenty of this throughout the day, provided by Lauren’s old man. He was so proud of his girl, he could barely contain the tears.
Plans to have an outdoor ceremony were unfortunately put on hold, after a downpour left guests wiping down chairs, and carrying them inside where the indoor nuptials then took place. I adore this venue, and this couple, and I can’t wait to be back here again in 2020.
