The Best of 2022

I love to do a quick summary of some of the best things I’ve witnessed at weddings right here, and with this year’s round up, I’ll make no exception. Most probably because I’ve seen some of the best things yet. That’s right, somehow, the weddings keep getting bigger and better, more raucous and radical, and even more beautiful. In 2022, I witnessed a first dance on roller skates, a Vicar of Dibley sketch during the ceremony, grandads doing shots, dogs walking down aisles, a ceremony next to a mini waterfall, and dozens many more. There were fireworks, confetti canons, champagne sprays and shoeies. I even got to shoot my first destination wedding in the south of France. The year has been kind to me, even if at times it has felt a bit overwhelming. Shooting 50 weddings in a year isn’t an easy task, just ask any photographer – but the budgeoning blow of how fast time goes is incredibly eased by the wonderfulness of the people, the love and the celebration of both involved in so many of these days.

At the end of ’22, I felt incredibly reflective of the year gone by. I knew back in January, with the volume of work I had ahead of me, that the year would slip through my fingers and I also knew I’d struggle to appreciate the moment as I lived in it. I won’t make that mistake again this year. Looking back through these pictures, as I’m sure is the same for my couples, allows me to relive the things I got to be a part of, even if only as a spectator. But in 2023, I’m going to pinch myself more, take deeper breaths in, and the extra few seconds to remind myself of how lucky I am to be doing what I’m doing. It’s a hell of a way to make a living.

The faces you see below, these are the faces of people I momentarily fell in love with. It’s true – not in the same way I love my fiance, no – but in its very own unique and singular way, I have a love for these people that opened up the most unique and singular day in their lives to me. My ’22 crew will always be a special one to me, because I really did give it some, and in return I feel they really did give it some back.

So, anyway…shan’t ramble on for too much longer with this love fest. Let’s let the images do the talking.
